So Alison and I have noticed that all the couples that we know who have chosen to combine their last names have great combinations--and we don't. And we're a little jealous.

So, we're leaving the task to you, the LJ readers, to tell us what our last name should be.

To wit, we are,

Alison Walker and Kevin Eustice

PS. Euster and Walkstice are right out. The best we've come up with is Walker-Eustice. :)

Combined last names are cool!

Yours are hard, though. Eulker? Eusker? If you're willing to go with a loosish interpretation of "combination" and pick something that sounds a bit like both last names, there's Wallice (sounds like Wallace in my head but I wanted to keep the spelling as close to the originals as possible). Euler is probably a bad idea, though ;). Finally, if you're totally stumped for a combination the both of you like, you could each keep your own last names and just use Walker-Eustice informally when you need a combined form to refer to your family unit (like on return addresses and whatnot, but not on anything official). This solution has the advantage of minimal bureaucracy, which appeals to me since I'm a big fan of "marriage without papers" (yay not endorsing government involvement in private relationships!) and avoiding bureaucracy in general. However, it doesn't solve the problem of finding a good shared name to pass on to kids if you plan to have them, though, so it's sort of a copout in that regard, I guess.

Euker - pronounced Eucher after the wonderful game.

Also, Wallace is a pleasant combination of your names. I agree that string substitution isn't letting me come up with much, but if you're willing to go for phonemic substitution, the possibilities are endless!

Are you fond of PG Wodehouse?

walker-eustice anagrams to Euler Eastwick. Eastwick isn't bad, though it favors the Eustice half. At least it's better than Lucretia Weeks, another anagram.

But I think my best solution is Wooster.

The solution, clearly, is anagrams.
Thusly:
EASTWICK-EULER
TWEAKER -SLUICE
LEASURE -WICKET

Or, if you must, make a new name from letters of the old. Thusly:
WISEACRE
CELESTA
KESTREL
STICKLE
CERISE
TUCKER
WILKES
etc. etc.

Is this meaning you're engaged? And, if so, is that a new phenomenon, or have I been really clueless?

Oh, and I have nothing further to offer on names -- the Internet has already been remarkably creative ;). It's not like I did anything clever with this in my own life, anyway.

:) no, we're not yet engaged. however, the topic of last names has come up innumerable times, without satisfactory resolution. so, to LJ we went!

Not engaged, but apparently very well-hung. Well, there's a good compromise.

"Walker-Eustice -- I 'ardly know 'er!"
Heheehehee, I am sooo much funnier on no sleep. Stop me now!

Since you asked on livejournal, howse about Bellafay? I'd propose Morgabeller but am thinking, "Hurm, that will probably get rejected."

Kerstice? Or Alvin!

Not that this is a democratic process in the least, but I vote for Kerstice, or even Kersti.

And may I congratulate you for considering taking part in a practice that is on the cutting edge of surname technology! It's OK if it takes a while to get used to the new name ... Rob and I both liked Prestezog from the beginning, but didn't take it seriously (and actually get our names changed) until two years later.

Ker-stice. Or Ker-tice. Curtis? Kevin Kerstice and Alison Kerstice actually sounds fairly reasonable. Or...

... (pause for dramatic effect)

Eustalker!

I am laughing as quietly as possible so Jen doesn't wake up, read this comment, and punch me on your behalf.

On the right track

For me the obvious choice, Stalker.

Points in its favor
An actual word
Possibly offensive

Points against it
Possibly offensive, but if that stops you then you're just not my kind of people!

Hmmm.... if we eliminate the suggestions that will get us arrested or thrown out of restaurants, and the ones that will lead to permanent emotional scarring, we don't have a whole lot of choices left!

Alison likes Wiseacre and Kestrel--but that's just because she plays too much D&D, and needs names for her characters.... Eastwick or Euler-Eastwick is kind of cool and snooty... too many options! :) Although, [livejournal.com profile] coldtortuga, Eustalker is high in the running... :)

I think it's the Wal

Walseth and Sweek doesn't sound very good, either.
Waleek? Sweth? Sweeseth (sounds like I have a lisp)
Week? Waek? Swalseth?

So on with the full combinations and "Euwalster." And that looks worse than i thought it would, but it'd be said ewe-wahl-ster. Eh, just a thought from the cyrillic region.
