Jun. 19th, 2004 11:25 pmahh... connectivity!
And 20 hours after leaving Santa Monica, I'm in Beaverton and already borrowing a local wireless access point to check up on LJ.
Today was a long, long, long ass drive.
butigotahelmet and I left Los Angeles around 4:27am and drove 960 miles--basically just on the 5. We arrived here around 7pm, 10 minutes under the "expected time" as told us by Yahoo maps--despite time spent lunching, gassing and stretching. The drive actually went by pretty fast--we had a good time chatting, napping, shooting pictures of amusing signs and scenery and playing with Martin's GPS. The Linux roadmap app is pretty darn cool--we were able to follow our progress the whole way. I thought of all the local LJers as I drove past Eugene! :)
The apartment here is nice--it's clean and fresh. The furniture we rented was here as promised, although it feels like Mudd again. Cheap, utilitarian and not that comfy--especially our couch. *sigh*
It feels a bit surreal being here--just as
morganlf is moving in to our Santa Monica apartment, I move here for the summer. It's far less than ideal. Anyway, the bugs are eating me alive as I sit out here on the patio with my wireless card angled just so. Time to flee while I still have skin left.
