Hmm. Dell has a pretty amazing deal right now if anyone is in the market for a PS3.

$280 snags a 40G PS3, with Resistance: Fall of Man and NBA'08.

That's around $180 under market cost for the console and the games!

so basically the PS3 is saying "buy me, K. BUY ME!!!" Over and over until you finally cave?

lol. this is a way better deal than walmart's even, since they offer free shipping, plus throw in two games (albeit one crappy one), and it's $20 cheaper!

Just be sure you never want to play PS2 or PS1 games on it. The current 40GB model is the one with neither hardware nor software backwards compatibility. If you don't care, hey, good deal - but given the number of PS2 games I've got, I'm holding out for the new 80GB release that's SUPPOSED to be in a couple weeks. ;->

Yeah, I want a PS3 primarily for blu-ray, and secondarily for games. I've never really been that much into PS1/PS2 games, and this deal, while probably just a price mistake that will be quickly rectified, seemed pretty good to me...

I am hankering for some Rock Band action. :)

Sounds good. Just figured I'd throw that out because it was a surprise to me when I encountered that bit of info ;->

I am quite looking forward to Rock Band as well. Yes, I could have gotten it for PS2, but, you know, seems silly to deliberately NOT get the one where they release new stuff you can get additionally, you know? That's on the list with the PS3. And it's probably a good thing there's not actually a version of the system out right now given that whole moving expenses/house buying/still in progress thing ;->

"Probably a mistake" indeed; it seems to be gone now.

I'm happy with my refurbished 60G w/ hardware compatibility, but I *do* have a ton of PS1/PS2 games. I hear it upscales them really nicely for HDTVs (which I don't have yet, but plan to get sometime reasonably soon).

If you do get one, I'll totally exchange (completely useless) friend codes with you. ;)

Cool.

Yeah, my order is yet to be canceled, but I'm hearing that it probably will be tomorrow or Friday. Ah well. If it does get canceled, I'm probably just going make use of Walmart's PS3 w/free $100 Gift Card offer. Best Buy is "price matching" the offer as well, apparently.

I did in fact make use of the Best Buy price matching. how do friend codes work?

I have no games yet--although a used copy of "Uncharted" is winging it's way here very slowly.

Any recommendations? The games I'm thinking about include Portal, Elder Scrolls IV, Fallout 3 (when it comes out).... Oh, and Rock Band. :)
